The Gibson Institute

The Gibson Institute is a research facility in Evanston Illinois. They specialize in biological research, anything from anthrax (to defend against it, or course) to arsenic-based life forms. James Spence is the director of the Department of Experimental Biology. They perform research and experiments with life forms of unique biology (such as those that survive on methane in deep ocean vents), as well as experimenting with bacterium (and, unofficially, larger creatures) to alter them on a genetic level.
