I arrived at Catalina’s hotel 15 minutes early and she was already waiting for me. We hopped in my MacLaren and headed off to a swanky little joint for dinner.
—-
I slipped the host a $50 and we got seated right away. We ordered wine and hors’d’oeuvres and made small talk. It was a lot of fun, and the fact that she’s beautiful didn’t hurt.
—-
After several glasses of wine and the main course, I asked her what she liked to do for fun. I wasn’t prepared for the answer. She wanted to go sledding. Had to be the wine talking, but who am I to refuse a beautiful girl?
—-
We headed out and on the way out of town stopped at a department store to pick up a sled. We headed to a nice big hill just outside of town, I parked at the top and put the keys in the gas tank. No sense losing them in the snow. Standing at the top of the hill, I started to have second thoughts, but there was no backing out now. I called a cab and arranged to have it waiting at the bottom of the hill.
—-
Now I knew she was a little drunk, she took off her shoes! Good thing I called that cab. It wasn’t TOO cold, but walking back up would’ve been rough. I sat down and invited her to sit in front of me. I pushed off. I immediately regretted the decision. We got going WAY too fast. I tried to slow us down, but we had to bail before we ran into the cab at the bottom of the hill.
—-
Covered in snow and cold, I got up to find that Catalina was giggling and making snow angels. I think I’m in love! A silver glint caught my eye in the snow. I moved to check it out and saw that it was a gun. A gun! Well, I figured I’d grab it and turn it into the police, don’t want someone getting hurt.
—-
We hopped in the cab, and headed back to the car, and then back to her hotel so she could change out of her wet dress. I waited in the bar, and caught the tail end of a press conference with one Yonus Fitzsimons, the brave coach with a heart of gold. Just as it ended Catalina came back down. In her pajamas. Looked like we were in for the night.
—-
She made a point of saying that she had a good time but that I wasn’t invited up. No worries. We had a good time at the bar, and at the end of the night I had to get myself a room to sleep it off for a few hours. I gave her a kiss goodnight, and we parted ways with promises of a second date.
